Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "bizarre tests and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana together with multiple items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
